2004 Reunion

400 Chadbournes Expected at 20th Reunion, August 12-15, 2004

Plans are underway for a massive 20th CFA Reunion, to be held next August in the South Berwick area. Here are some of the plans which are in progress:
We have reserved the Beaver Dam Campground on Route 9 in Berwick for Chadbournes traveling some distance in campers with their families. There will be family activities at the Campground in parallel with other activities in South Berwick during two of the four days, so that participants can choose which they would like to attend. The campground activities include canoeing, fishing, swimming, volley ball, etc.
Those without campers have their choice of local hotels or B&B’s. A list of hotels and B & B’s in the area appears at the bottom of this announcement.

Reunion Activities
Piscataqua River Cruise - room for about 50 people.
Coach tours of historic buildings, including guided tours at SPNEA-owned Hamilton House and Sarah Orne Jewett House and the Humphrey Chadbourne Manor House excavation site. There will also be a self-guided tour of the Chadbourne descendant-owned Judge Chadbourne house. All three houses were built during the period, 1750-1780. The Humphrey Chadbourne House was built 1640-60 and burned by the Indians in 1690.
Catered meals at Berwick Academy for one or two nights.
Speaker presentations in the evenings at the Academy, with subjects relating to the history of this area and Chadbourne genealogy.
Musical entertainment by talented Chadbournes – applications now being accepted.
Tutorials on the use of the Chadbourne genealogy CD-ROM.

The Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities has given us special permission to use the beautiful gardens of the historic Hamilton House in South Berwick. Small groups of our tour groups will spend an hour in the garden sipping iced tea or morning coffee or eating a box lunch. This picture will be complete if we add three or four or five musicians playing baroque music. If you know a Chadbourne who plays violin, viola, flute, or harp, please contact Howard Kaepplein at kaepplein3637@charter.net. If you know a Chadbourne who has a talent suitable for entertainment during or after dinner, Howard would like to hear from that person as well.
Computer people needed, to give tutorial.
About 400 copies of the Chadbourne genealogy CD-ROM have been sold. This product has received rave reviews by professional genealogists for its content and also for its powerful search engine which allows users to quickly find their family and assemble their complete descendency in a separate Word document. However, most of those who bought the CDROM have never used it – they need some help. At the reunion, we will have the use of an LCD projector so that a tutor can demonstrate the ease with which people can find their families in the CDROM. We would like to have tutorial sessions at several different times during the reunion. To do that, we need three or four young Chadbournes who are computer literate. I know that there are dozens of such people out there, but only their parents or grandparents come to the reunions. Please contact Howard Kaepplein with the names of possible tutors.
