Elaine Chadbourne Bacon

In Memorium

It is with great regret that we announce that our Genealogist and Membership Chair, Elaine Chadbourne Bacon, died late Friday night, August 17, 2001, at a Seattle, Washington hospital.

She had been in poor health for several years and required oxygen on an on-going basis, and was unable to attend to our reunion in October, 2000, although she very much wanted to.

She had planned to come to the reunion this year, health permitting, and as a "trial run" attended a social occasion in Idaho a couple of weeks ago.

Immediately after that event, and on her way back to San Jose, her health worsened and she had to be hospitalized in Seattle.

As both Genealogist and Chair of the Membership Committee, and a devoted and untiring worker for the CFA for many years, Elaine leaves behind fond memories and an important and lasting tribute to her perseverance - our 1994 Chadbourne genealogy book.

Elaine's husband, twin daughters, son, and their families, are understandably in a state of shock.

Linda Hanscom and I commissioned a plaque for Elaine on Thursday of last week, to recognize her many years of work and devotion to the CFA, as the Board had discussed at our last meeting.

It was prepared the next day and sent by UPS that day for next day delivery. Unfortunately, it arrived too late for Elaine to see it, but the family will appreciate it.
