Women's Shelter & Residence

The YWCA Women's Shelter and Residence has 2 components:
Emergency Shelter
The Emergency Shelter is designed for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These women have a variety of life experiences that contribute to placing them in their current situation: abuse, neglect, domestic violence, behavioral health problems, job loss or lack of employment, lack of affordable housing, health concerns, or other life situations. There is currently capacity for 24 women in both individual and shared rooms. The program is designed for approximately a 1 to 45 day length of stay. While in the program clients are provided with a room including a bed, dresser and closet space. Clients have access to a shared kitchen and bath facilities. The program is for women 18 years old or older. The current weekly rate is $128.10 (tax included). We work closely with the City of Portland and a large majority of our women utilize General Assistance which pays for the rooms until they can get back on their feet.

Women's Residence
Our Women's Residence is designed as semi-permanent housing for up to 32 women who need a sheltered housing environment. Presently the weekly rate is $119 per week for single large rooms; $91 per week for single small rooms; and $70 per week for double occupancy rooms, which can be fully or partially paid by General Assistance or vouchers.
